Using the Brazilian Butt Lift to Augment Your Buttocks Philadelphia

Exercise and diet may not always provide the desired results when it comes to the way we want our bodies to look. Sometimes, simply losing or gaining weight is not enough. This is especially the case in troublesome areas like our buttocks, where shape is quite an important factor. In such cases, a surgical procedure is a good option that can deliver the desired results.

Buttock augmentation is a procedure through which the buttocks is reshaped to have a more rounded and pronounced look. One of the ways this can be done is by using fat injections in a process called fat transfer or fat grafting. This procedure is also known as a ‘Brazilian butt lift’ (BBL).

The Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure

Firstly, viable fat from an area in your own body will be carefully and gently harvested. This must be done with a high degree of care in order to preserve the integrity of the fat cells. The liposuction is done using very low suction and with low-gauge needles that are connected to slender cannulas. All of this is done to ensure that damage is minimized and as many fat cells as possible survive when they are removed from the body and cleaned.

Next, the harvested fat is processed using a centrifuge and filtered for impurities such as liquid and damaged fat cells. Finally, the purified fat is injected into the buttocks delicately so as to ensure revascularization of the grafted fat, i.e., ensuring that the injected fat receives an appropriate supply of blood in the new area. Your plastic surgeon will take care to inject the fat in just the right places in order to achieve a natural-looking, curvy, and plump buttocks.

Recovery and Expected Results

After the surgery, a compression garment is applied in order to protect the area of surgery and also control bruising and swelling. It also helps set the new contours for your buttocks. There will be some discomfort for a few days after the surgery, which is normal, and can be treated with pain medication prescribed by your surgeon.

The swelling should subside within a couple of weeks, during which time you should avoid sitting on the buttocks. After a few weeks, the compression garment is removed and most regular activities can be resumed. However, resuming all activities, including sitting directly on the buttocks for prolonged periods, will take a few weeks after surgery.

The results of a buttock augmentation can be visible after the swelling subsides, but full results will take longer to display themselves as your body settles into its new dimensions. Results are long lasting, and usually permanent, because the fat that was grafted is natural and should survive indefinitely as with fat in other parts of your body. However, changes to your body such as a significant increase or decrease in weight can alter the end result.

Using fat injections for augmenting your buttocks has an added advantage of removing fat from another part of your body where less volume is desired, like your abdomen, thighs, or arms. The natural-looking improvement in the shape of your buttocks can greatly improve your self-esteem and confidence.
