Brow Lift Philadelphia

The brow region, from the hairline to the eyebrows is important for the aesthetic appearance of the face. A brow lift surgery can not only help the appearance of the forehead and brow, but it can also help to rejuvenate the eyes themselves. A brow lift can restore the eyebrow arch and open the eye area, as well as correct wrinkles, drooping skin, and furrows of the upper eyelids.

At Main Line Institute of Plastic Surgery Dr. Hoffman can perform your brow lift as a stand-alone treatment, or in conjunction with a face lift, neck lift, or eyelid surgery.

Choosing a Brow Lift: Who’s a Good Fit?

Most of the indications for a brow lift are also common signs of aging. Patient’s with changes in their eyebrows- drooping, descending, or asymmetry can be improved with a brow lift. Brow lifts may also improve wrinkles between the eyes, crow’s feet, or horizontal lines. Patients with these concerns are improved with a brow lift.

Most candidates for a brow lift procedure are 40 years or older—it’s around this age that signs of aging in the brow area become very visible. However, some patients around 20 to 30 years old can also be candidates for a brow lift if circumstances arise. Candidates must be healthy and must have no healing problems.

Your Brow Lift Consultation

During your visit for a forehead lift consultation, we will discuss your signs of aging, particularly in your brow area. We will listen to your goals and answer any questions you have. If you have previously tried a brow lift procedure, you must bring the records of your procedure, along with your medical records.

We will examine your forehead and brow area. Depending on your goals, our evaluation of your medical records, and the results of the physical examination, we will recommend the ideal cosmetic procedure for you. If we schedule a brow lift procedure, we will create a personalized treatment plan to achieve your goals.

What Happens During Surgery?

Your brow lift surgery will last between one and two hours and will be conducted with local or general anesthesia depending on the extent of surgery and your personal needs. The length of the surgery will increase if other cosmetic procedures such as a face lift and a neck lift are also being performed.

After the face is cleansed thoroughly, and the hair is tied back securely. Dr. Hoffman will make one larger incision or in the endoscopic method, several very small incisions behind the hairline. The forehead skin will then be lifted. The muscles and tissues will then be affected to create a smoother more youthful appearance. The brows are elevated and secured with sutures placed under the skin, or absorbable screws. Stitches or staples are then used to close the incisions.

Recovery and Results

Most patients are able to return to their normal routines between seven to ten days after surgery. Bruising and scabs will be mostly gone after three weeks. The results of your brow lift can last between five to ten years. Instructions for recovery will be provided after the brow lift procedure, along with any required prescriptions.

During your consultation, Dr. Hoffman can explain the details of recovery and what you can expect. It is normal for brow lift patients to experience numbness, nausea, incision discomfort and mild swelling. You should limit rigorous activity for several weeks and sun exposure for several months. During follow-up appointments, removable stitches and staples will be removed.
